The Company, an internationally operating player in the ornamental horticulture sector, is active in the breeding and propagation of (cut) flowers and potted plants. Within one of its divisions, discussions arose with shareholders regarding financial performance and liquidity development, creating a need for accelerated insight and scenario analysis. At the same time, a strategic reorientation was central: unbundling the activities into two separate parts, with the intention to divest or discontinue one part.
At the Company’s request, Beaufort supported the development and assessment of multiple scenarios. Beaufort financially separated the activities (allocation of results and costs) and prepared a practical framework to clarify the implications of the unbundling. In addition, Beaufort developed a reorganisation and cost-reduction plan to stabilise the organisation within a limited timeframe and prepare it for the next step, including a (partial) sale. As part of this, options were explored to create time and financial headroom through divestments (including real estate) to support decision-making and execution.
