Beaufort makes it personal with: Michiel Tempelman

Utrecht, November 2022

Beaufort Transformations and transactions has a complete new look, including a new payoff: Perfection made Personal. What does that mean in daily practice? Reason to ask the Beaufort consultants how they make it ‘Personal’. This week: Michiel Tempelman.

“If you really stand above the matter, you will be able to formulate the problem and the solutions on a few pages.” – Michiel Tempelman, partner.

Perfection made Personal, what do you think that means?

Michiel: “That is actually a slam dunk for me, because I am a perfectionist!

In practice this means that I often work very methodically in order to get the facts straight first. Always try to think a few steps ahead and determine the consequences of the choices you make.

In addition, I will always try to process complex matters into digestible chunks. If you really stand above the matter, you will be able to formulate the problem and the solutions on a few pages.

Finally, I always keep in mind that finance is not the starting point of an organisation, but the outcome instead. If you really want to get to the core, you need to understand the underlying dynamics: The market, the operational workflows, the organisational structure, and the people involved.”

And Michiel: how do you make it Personal?

“Sometimes you have to swim against the tide to get to the heart of the matter. So, dare to be authentic, ask ‘stupid’ questions, and approach things from a different angle. This often leads to surprising useful insights and solutions.

It is not a question of being right but of being put in the right, this basic rule applies to everyone. It is therefore crucial to take into account the different interests of all persons involved in order to get to acceptable solutions. This is only possible if your integrity is beyond any doubt.”
